As with all previous editions of " Project Management in Construction " by Anthony Walker, this sixth edition emphasizes the use of systems theory in organizing and managing workers experienced in the planning and completion of building projects. The book reviews a number of competing theories and alternative approaches, such as differentiation and integration; it also deals with the expanding area of temporary organizations as they relate to construction project supervision. This edition takes into account the further theoretical development of buildings project organization systems while improving the practical application of organizational research findings to the decisions on construction projects. There is added emphasis on the complexity of managing projects as related to clients, project participants and the handling of issues deriving from the sustainability of the projects; there is also closer attention to changing views of supply chain discipline and developing forms of partnership together with clarifications of changing language and interpretation relating to the uses of different types of frameworks for managing building organizations.
