Snow avalanches may have enormous destructive influence in urban zones. Every year, avalanche accidents occur within mountain areas around the world and cause recognised deaths and considerable harm to buildings and structures. In certain mountain regions, particularly in the Alpine described Alps, technically engineered avalanche defences are constructed to enhance the standard of safety within inhabited territories; however, existing infrastructure such as streets, railway tracks and tourist attractions create new potential danger in hazardous zones.
