The Earth can sustain us, if we learn to sustain it," writes Lisa Bennett, founder of the educators' collective Educicum International and author of Ecoliterate, a provocative contribution to the dialogues on social and emotional education (SELE), which has gained prominence in recent years.
Her work opens the field marked by ecological concerns, argues Bennett, and consequently becomes instructive for any approach to SELE. Here, the dialogue happens between educators, young people, activists involved in solving problems in food, energy and water in geographic contexts across Northern America and Europe. In doing so, Bennett updates findings from research she conducted as part of her doctoral studies, and from academic conversations on SELE, incorporating them with particular attention to environmental challenges.

She also highlights the necessity of violent resistance and active social activism calling for an alternative to the principles that commodify certain paradigms of mental well-being and brittle individualism.
