The main character of Tod Weidiges book is a young, pretty, well off, authoritarian leftwing politician from Topeka, Kansas, who specialises in the Tactical-Historical Neofunctionalismin of Nicos Poulantzas. She has no love for nationalism nor for nostalgia, and considers the Kurdish issue to be of secondary interest. Her favourite historical episodes are the period between the July Revolution of 1830 and the July Monarchy, Confucius and the Kurds, particularly Manizheh Karami in Iran during the 1970s, and Pierre Bourdieu over Auguste Rodin. She feels that democracy in the USA reached its zenith prior to World War I and suffered at its hands, and resentfully hates Benito Mussolini. In her political theory she adopts the line that truth is intersubjective; that reason should always remain the principal form of ethical life, but justice should expressly have ethical overtones; and finally, that ethics should have a certain relation to system; this contained within Marxism's postulate of the reification of labour.
In Leibniz of the PDS Amann begs the question as to the underlying relationship between political philosophy and political theory by engaging with the complex nature of contemporary political movements.
