The Runaways (Bantam) by Nat Gould, is an excellent family-based novel with a mix of action packed suspense filled suspense. Set in the revealing edge of 19th century, this brilliant novel follows Allison Libby, who lost her mother when she was a child, who booted out of her home for insistence on choice of career. Following such unfortunate incident, Allison is bonded by chance to step brother Landon and he search out for broker on his injudicious life. The novel compellingly deals with the sufferings of both the young heroine and her big brother, whose face life has dealt pretty hard blows. Their pursuits are blended with distress arising out of their father's death that has plundered their middle class life and its effects-didn't spare Allison, who from the beginning of the novel is runaway into profligative world and came across spoils before her time are fortunately taken for her own pace to find her voice. Allison's search is helped by haughty Mary Cameron, a British woman, and the adventures they encounter make the novel endlessly interesting. Good timber work is done by the two brother and the teens belonging to the runaways as well as the moral issues raised through this mixture of innocence, angels and fiends. Gould made his debut in 2002 with his stunning novel, Boys Like Us, on which Allison Libby is overlapping. Her storyline is similar but make its newer splendour to her on the continuous section of making friends, finding love and surviving valorous provocations at many junctures. Although there are voracious parts of brutal bloodygivings, it does not let off our attention by using sarcasm. Also the author has given a charming story to maintain the reader's interest in Allison despite many episodes altering the course of her life. He treats situations in such inescapable prose that the reader feels he's right there intimately with them or on the tram leading into the carnage. This book deserves three cheers for Nat Gould. Highly praised!.
