Учебное пособие "Английский язык: технологии и инновации" предназначено для студентов первого курса, обучающихся по специальностям "Теплоэнергетика и теплотехника", "Электроэнергетика и электротехника" и "Автоматизация технологических процессов и производств". Пособие состоит из двух тематических модулей: "Технологии и инновации" и "Научные достижения", а также раздела "Supplementary Reading". Содержание модулей соответствует рабочей программе дисциплины "Иностранный язык". Тексты направлены на интеллектуальное развитие студентов, включая умение работать с информацией, критически осмысливать, интерпретировать и аргументировать. Упражнения помогают студентам улучшить свои навыки чтения, письменной и устной коммуникации, а также расширить лексический запас в рамках изучаемых тем. Каждый модуль завершается выполнением проекта на одну из предложенных тем. Пособие может использоваться как в аудиторном режиме, так и для самостоятельной работы студентов.

This textbook is intended for undergraduate students studying engineering specialisations. It focuses on two topic modules and a reading bank. Each module features structured texts to introduce active reading of academic sources, and each chapter and diachronic text contains a selection of vocabulary and grammar items that are essential for the topic at hand. Furthermore, a project issues are incorporated to revise and summarise core information relevant both to the current topics and the course-content as a whole, thereby equipping the students with the capacity to independently parse scholarly papers and presentations. It may serve as an effective lifecycle teaching tool of the syllabus content, it may also be successfully integrated into independent student work.The task construction forms should optimise at enhancing the skillfulness of the recipients in the imperative skills of processing reading material, handling the written and verbal communication as well as getting appropriate terms in a certain board, corresponding to the forums and innovations, the scientific achievement and supplementary reading. In order to cover all this, aspects important for the personal development of the person studying, with assisting abilities to embrace information technology independently, comprehend it critically and individually develop original conclusions and arguments. This book can be used not only as an educational tool in class weeks, but also as an independent working resource for pupils.
