Opening their hearts and mind wide, and in some instances, breaking out in belly laughs, the authors cover a subject that may as well be in the Old Testament and has until then been ignored. The contributors, anyone from 24 to 84 years old, and the stories – from funny to heart-breaking– give us a glimpse at the journey of feelings and loyalties, losses, altruistic acts, grudges and compassion – how all these factors form the peculiar mix of being a sibling. A brother or sister is undoubtedly an essential word of endearme on our lips, but it was also observed by Tobias Wolff that "having a sibling is, in part, about having stories to share." David Kaczinski, whom the Unabomber is his brother, echoed that sentimental view: "I'll take first with the distinction that a sibling shows you the real you as well as not.
