This book makes a significant contribution to our understanding both of work within the fast-changing developments of global production systems and also economic theory, in particular labour market analysis.It is here argued that work is necessary viewed within its historical context and the linkages between global capitalism and the 'information society' are integral to comprehending the transformations underway and how they might affect the labour market.The book offers a significantly original and original analyses of The New Economy (flexible labour) and studies the impact of this form of work on job security and increasing levels of income inequality.
