The evidence base for healthy eating and physical educational interventions in these after - school settings continues to develop. During commissioning this special publication, the Association for National After-School Programs makes an available platform for a variety of studies on research projects which can guide and contribute to current conversations about optimized policies and methodologies adopted for the well being of children and youth. A lot of this work provides us with new knowledge regarding healthy lunch programs options and physical education endeavors in afterschool programs and it highlights the large contribution that perspective we are taking on childhood obesity prevention from this vital field.
