Walther Kables' book "The Coca-Cola Club" describes the story of a group of young people who spend their days in an informal cafe serving cocaine to their customers and becoming involved in petty crimes such as embezzling money and burglary. The club reflects a nostalgic society and adds to the adventure and excitement.
Each day they are consumed with increasingly difficult problems for which the cocaine may offer a quick fix. Despite their high hopes, their dreams of success and brilliant plans, everything is derailed by the lack of planning. But when we read about it, we find ourselves suddenly capable of understanding and judging in hindsight, despite everything the protagonists risked. Just like all too many real-world experiences or social phenomena, this book reveals the irrationality behind successful, pretentious behavior.
