"Böser Zauber" by Ulrich Wissmann is a suspenseful and compelling story of a Navajo police officer's hunt for the brutal murderers of a young family, who only one member managed to escape. The action takes place in a remote corner of the Navajo Nation in New Mexico where resources riches are exploited by various companies and powers, despite the objection of several tribes. Frank Begay, a member of the Indigenous Navajo Police Force is suddenly called to investigate when members of an extended Tsosie family are brutally murdered in their home. Upon arriving at the scene, he discovers numerous clues that suggest there were witnesses of the crime before removing all bodies to hide evidence. As the case spirals deeper and deeper into mystery, Begay finds that its roots are much darker than he could ever imagine, with both his FBI partner Caldwell and the local villagers digging around every possible lead.
