"In Between - zwischen Bühnen and Bordellen" describes the life of an unemployed actor in Stockholm, who enters into various sexual relationships with women, in order to escape loneliness and despair.
In his own words, the author says that the book "began as a journal to people close to me", but when she decided to publish it openly, she realized that she could not tell her story alone. For this reason, Ljungberg worked with the feminist literary critic and journalist Eva Grepp, to create a narrative which would tell the story through several key characters.
The book provides insight into the worlds of cinema, theater, nightlife, and other social spheres through the lives of five different characters, including the protagonist Erik, his girlfriend Sophie, and his best friend Marianne, all of whom have their own reasons for participating in sexual encounters in
