This book deals with quantum computing methods for advanced wireless networks. The focus is on the optimization of physical layer and medium access control parameters in order to maximize spatial throughput and minimize transmission mean square error. Low-density parity-check codes are preferred to reduce the decoding complexity. Novel dispersion-managed PSK and QAM modulation and demodulation techniques are proposed. Spatial diversity reception is reconciled with cooperative and open loop transmissions. Interference and noise mitigation takes place through jointly optimized relay placement and power allocation (through heuristic algorithms) and dynamic channel inversion frequency hopping. Novel approaches to opportunistic receiver architectures based upon zero forcing beamformer are explained. Exclusive care is taken to provide viable performance improvements over classical solutions within the realm of anticipated range limitations and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing channel access schemes. Finally, issues pertinent to using ancillary feedback information to manage diversity port performances are also considered.
