The author explores what was new about New Labour's approach to Middle Eastern policy, and how that approach differed from previous governments in terms of its dealings with the region and the war on terrorism. She goes on to analyse in considerable detail how the government led by Tony Blair handled the Iraqi crisis, both during the initial invasion and afterwards, including changes in its relationship with Iran.
