"The Sky Was Higher" is the story of Anna, an Eastern European artist who is visiting Washington DC for her exhibition. When the 11th September attacks occur, Anna has to confront reality and her expectations of life in the United States, in light of her journey in post-block history. She has lived her American dream and enjoyed life around open borders, but the reality of the American dream is evident upon arrival at Dulles International Airport, where she passes through customs and security checks as American visitors do: albeit a more modern manifestation of same.
