Katharina v Wolowski natively grows up with her identical twin Anni and her parents Edelgard and Pavel in former East Germany. When their father leaves the family, her mother goes overboard with love affairs and plops Katharina into a state-run boarding school. Slighted, groped, abused and bounced out, she experiences an eight-year-long martyrdom, ending only as she achieves legal majority and is released from juvenile reformatory. After her first step in freedom lands her in Russland, where she is completely naive and unfamiliar with the world, seeks direct contact with KGB. Her contact person, Georgi Kurganov, immediately realizes the potential within her and wants to train her as an agent, but her agreement also includes the small print: Marie must throw inhibitions and shame overboard and also put her own body to the task. What this means is demonstrated by Anica, an elderly agent who for years worked for KGB as a sex spy and now trains newcomers. Katharina isn't exactly reserved, and is rather shocked, hoping she will never have to actually put into practice certain sexual practices.
