Paul Watson is an activist, who received the Jules Véran Environmental Prize in 2011for his environmental work. He is on a mission to save world oceans from illegal exploitation and environmental destruction, and believes that, "If the seas die, we die".

For decades, Paul Watson has risked his life to protect marine dwellers. In 1987, he founded Sea Shepherd Conservation Association, whose first ship, the Sea Shepherd, flew the pirate flag with trident and shepherd's staff in recognition of this endeavor.
