"Frauenschneider" Gutschmidt (Author: Otto von Guttemberg) is a historical fiction novel set between the First World War and its aftermath. The story follows the life of Baroness von Hemmer, a widow struggling to maintain her family when a series of unfortunate events lead her into serious financial difficulties.

However, when the widow falls in love with Vetter Ernst, whose cousin is freeing him, this changes his strategic aim and destroys his friend's plan. As this love triangle pulls on the heartstrings, the reader watches Frida struggle to keep hold of her wealth, her reputation, and her faith in humanity as she treads ever closer to the brink of despair.
