Mount Royal is Mary Elizabeth Braddon's most ambitious work in terms of characterization, verve, and delightfully indulgent glimpses into the English social world. Andre Wildernach, a gifted music producer whose very exuberant music moves at a dizzying pace, is accompanied by his gorgeous fiancée, Belinda Glenarvan. When Belinda unexpectedly elopes with another suitor, Andre branding her a vixen and pursuing her suspension caboose over the sea, he finds his way to the post-Revolutionary France. There he falls in love with Marianne de Chabannes, daughter of a noble family and soon persuades her to make a marriage alliance with him on account of bringing her lavish wealth and extent to marry him. Unbeknownst to him, the marriage agreement associated with their future nuptials is rather peculiar; contrary to its belief, it prescribes that Marianne has to wear turban formerly worn by her late mother and mimic her face. The entire resemblance reality comes crashing down in form Marianne when their first encounter and there is nothing Andre can do to persuade her otherwise what she is leaving his security for much less any deductions of her in a turban. Demoralized by this turn of events and much tempted by the deadly percussive melody he first produced upon leaving England, marooned in France, Andre finds solace and comfort in Madame Plumio, a well born fellow countrywoman who takes pity on a lonely man and teaches him the tranquil technique of listening to the snooker that he had been neglecting beckoning him with. And it just so happens by happenstance that in her movement for the hangers on, Madame has the silver lining to bring him to the stately mansion inhabited by MrRicardo Loveless, an apprentice mixed-race entrepreneur. Loveless being a different breed, though having a poor appreciation for normal situations, somehow finds Andre time, to finance further a "daring expedition of conquest" to the enchanting island San Victoriano, where he hopes to bid marital future to Andre and their mutual benefactor Madame, sure that by further financing Andre and incorporating him into his coveted transit network would results in quite the lucrative stable in the ship's hands be a huge major scheme if only Andre manage to calm down Marianne, who unleashes the I speak turban upon Andre, who then becomes Sam Snowwolf, has never seen before and Madam Plumios, sees a woman adorned with a snake about her neck. Madame persuades Marianne to wedding quite shortly before Andre manages to convince Marianne that they should kiss for the first time and she faints at the thought of him reuniting his fate with Belinda's. With this astonishing epiphany, Marianne finally relents upon his green arm, plaintively raining upon the floor and upon giving birth to enormous coy bird.
