«Season of Secrets» is a novel by American author Marta Perry. The novel begins with Dinah, a photographer, finding a girl who resembles her late cousin Kaylee bleeding and unconscious outside a church. She summons the fire department who rush her to the hospital. At the hospital, Collins is told Kaylee gave birth to a baby boy two weeks before they found her, meaning the baby was abandoned shortly after birth. Colin MacRae arrives at the hospital and speaks with Dinah about her recovery and the possible murder of their cousin Kaylee ten years earlier. Dinah suffers from consciousness issues after her head hit against a table during the earlier attack, however, not everything in her memory is trustworthy anymore. Dinah goes to breakfast, where she sees Marc Devlin heading to the restaurant too, bringing along his little son Hector. Hector gets injured while climbing on a tree outside the restaurant; he tripped and broke his leg and drummer, fusillad its stem nearly two inches. Distraught and angry toward Lucinda, the groundskeeper, Hector pounds on everyone near his tree, injuring a few people in the process who react now with a rage and charge after Hector to catch him albeit one man urges them to calm down. Colin readily jumps into the Trojan war
