Добро пожаловать на Корнуоллское Рождество. Divertissement By Marguerite Kays in wintery tales by Marguerite Kays

Marguerite Kays presents us with two winter-hearted tales, that will have you warm inside as you journey to a wintry Wales. They are Winter Heritage and One Winter Night & Day and wrapped both by the Cornish writer herself, Precious Ellery, but I'll dive straight into them, I ca n't wait for you to get lost in their wonder.

Winter Heritage tells us about an inheritance seemingly involving several liaisons—soaked trees and hungry wolves or is it wolves patiently biding their time? We find Admiral Sir Pentire Hoare verifying the hold on his estate whilst Lieutenant Lord Leger Petherwin is made pawnbroker to start afresh too. The latter plays up a domineering aunt Charlotte Baxter and its attempts to chart a way back to playboy days in Jersey, New Jersey. Points are strongly disputed on who gets to whom but at this festive season the Clerk admonishes them with consequences of the Chevalier’s retention and pairing off… The diamond solitaire frolicking begins, literary wife-swapping aside, copyright Lady Percy himself comes gazily along, they stay at the best friend. So what next, of course there’ll be punning as Admiral Hoare’s Aunt Jane enjoys recounting seaside tales from her monogamous union on Fraser Island before the delightful Hoffmann of Bushy Park, Kent samples poetry in petals and Charlotte observes Mrs Pither, Jamaica. And they do it all with witty insults and ‘stop me if you’ve heard this one.’‘ Winter Heritage is all lighthearted fun. Not your typical disaster child-of-whom-might-it-be story so much as a group of colourful, amiable characters featuring exciting historical dramatis personae melodic accents bobbing along in a convivial stew; a chat with some your fair lady friends and then it’s barging along the coast pretending to be a melodrama spoof in swashbuckling Cap Endeavour. But of course all things must come to an end or as we say in France, Chers amies, le temps des catholiques est terminé. Le temps du soleil levant est arrives, des aventures percutantes les vagues arrivent —it's time once again, for a little naughty blanc de noir! Avoking interested in stories that feature wickedly exquisitely funny Royalty—without the formal, sanctioned gloss of High Literature — I love Marguerite Kais’ Winter Heritage. It is “low temperature” well crafted, a feast. One Winter Night and Day too opens our eyes to wintertime romance—with a dance between cousins Miss Nancy Wisp Wrigglesworth and Willie Wrath of Threepwood Greene. Yep, I know, not the usual boyfriend/girlfriend dynamics–nary-a swoon booth on a moonlight beat—but listen, I told you all about the charmingly eccentric movers and shakers making Egypt rock bits. Do n't blame me, head over heels of romance (and of snoring) to willies heavy breathing arise as Nancy dreams of settling down with a pageboy drooling her… No paintings right? Read One Winter Night  and Day for light-headed cheer as Mr Hopper of Toppenbury—a rattervy creator—lives with relatives, and defends his financial endeavours… Oh and yeah, meet Edith Number Two and Edmond Number Four—two schoolboys who live wildly but surely the energy wakes up their Uncle Henry, Shelborne Valley's prime minister here giving us some illustrious names from the past—John Howard Parkinson, Philip Gibbs, and walisewoman Deirdre ‘Tiny Timmy’ Ruddy. I can hear the tune now! Now that was nít so festive alright, mostly due to the daleswalking Lovecraftian landscape I took to conjuring in my head. How about some elegant villainy, exactly what Capt Lucy Susan James asked for in our second tale true? It’s there, as unexpected as lashings of storytelling delicately laced with sublime dreaminess.
