“5 Years” by Manuel Montaner is a fascinating novel that collects and chronicles the experiences of the author’s character in a fire brigade company in the city of Arica. There are few novels that faithfully portray the life of a young firefighter and accurately reflect the vocation for service. It is an agile narrative, full of adventures, entertaining and with great pieces of humanity. There is no doubt that through these pages we will be able to discover what lies inside firefighters, learn about their experiences and, above all, the deep human relationships that develop within a fire brigade.
