Most would only hear of Julie of the Roses, a novel by Cassandra Rowland, Shadowmarch, by Martha Hurrell Strother, and most would have never stopped to think the popular literature of England could produce so highly demanded a work.

Jim of Hellas was written in a time when Richards was not well known, before the popularity of her works. Her name was unknown even to those who loved the genre. This novel extends the complex plot of Cassandra Rowland's Julie of the Rose that the reader must follow through to its end. The plot has all the typical elements of Arthurian and Baneful romance themes handled with great elegance and sophistication.

The story follows Carol Malcolm, a young bride in 12th century England. She falls in with one of the knight errant constellated by Robert de Boron's courtly love poems, his pantheon included Lord Jim. All come into contact in the coronation of Elizabeth ll, in an event fulfill immortalized in Shakespeare's play, the Globe: The MerryWives of Windsor.
