Tall, Dark, and Notorious is the account of Jane Smith's decision to marry Lucian, a wicked rake, in search of financial comfort after her family's tragedy. Lucian is caring toward Jane and gives her a new home. Although Jane admits that both Lucian's intensity and devastating charm attract her, she is resolute not to fall for him. Despite being short, plain Jane is a successful acquisition (vikng bargain!) for Lucien because of a proposal made by an elderly friend who plotted with Lucian. Unsure of herself as a woman but fearless as a friend Grace is a hit from the moment she joins her husband in his estate. Standout features of this book are Lucian' predicament where he is compelled to marry (or lose his title) and the friendship shared by Lucian and Jane which grows throughout the middle of the novel. This novel has been a favourite for many fans bringing back memories to the building years old current with feelings brought about by reading it. This book will be enjoyed by Regency lovers who come across romance where many choose morality over romance. Great reading. She writes widely across the genres (historical bridal disguise romance, bodice ripper, adventure and suspense). Ms Mortimer has a stellar reputation for her meticulous revision process and diligent work in historical research, details multiples languages (including both Portuguese and Spanish) plus Victoria heritage and architecture thus her books are never predictable nor dull. Many of her characters are charming and real and i love some of their trajectory developments. When she comes up with a flavour of historical fiction centering on crises nearly indistinguishable from real life (like the death of parents), it is tough to keep from smiling. The jealousy scenes will make your heart skip a beat .. Am really pleased with this one. Highly addicting food for the soul.
