Their stories are intertwined with the fate of their neighborhood. Stanza once discovered a terrible discovery one night and Mutlu's sons threaten to slide into the drug world. Julia Rothum affords sympathetic portraits of her characters, each struggling for their own self-determined existence in her own right.
