This interdisciplinary epistolary novel introduces the world of the ancient Hebrews, their experience of legal and moral ambiguity, and the important role of marriage and family at the time.

In an effort to "harvest complex journeys" (quoted from the back cover) Anderson-Gholson places a group of four people -- Judah Mount, his wife Rebecca, his friend Ezra and his lover Debora, in various time-traveling locations in the years around the life of the Mishnaic rabbi Rabbi Akiva. It\'s heavily assumed that the reader is also familiar with the main characters, so that each of these timescrollengs might allow the protagonist to reflect on their lives, their placement within family politics and their former beliefs.

About the author, GAB (Judah Mount) says "The Author is a writer, an editor and an educator who most remembers her copious note-taking during lectures...It was experimental to nominate them as her Agent and Co-Editor. For all our teaching and editing experience, we too are learners, and we asked ourselves why Glasgow would choose her."

My thoughts are that while it coukd have been melodramatic to include multiple time traveling characters and no use of invented names for *magrichim* ,it is innovative, eye opening, unlike any other interpretations I have read of early Rabbinic Judaism and offers a deeper insight into Psalms 44 and 73 containing The Ancient Law. One of my pet peeves to be annoyed at any new resource that wrongly references Psalm 45 as our superlative and all encompassing miracles anthology but it\'s a literal Foxhole miracle happen.
