Margaret, a geologist from Aberdeen, has been researching Doggerland since the end of the 1980s. On the other hand, Marc, abruptly left the field of geology at St. Andrews University and his former girlfriend Margaret, and exchanged it for an adventurous life as an engineer on the drilling islands of the world. Both were invited to a congress in Denmark in December 2023. They could meet again there. But on the eve of their arrival, Red warning level is announced in Great Britain: Hurricane Xaver is approaching Northern Europe. The novel follows the path of the storm and its increasing strength, full of fascination, with Xaver awakening the ghosts of Doggerlands to live, as well as the memories of the two of them during their shared time. It also highlights the question of what the past means to the present.
