The Little Lamed Prince by Dina Craik is a story about the adventures of a young prince who was born with a deformity, but it was in spite of his faults that he gained the trust of his subjects.
The king is desperate and decides to have Craikin help him find a son to be king. Craikey feels tired of the Queen's demands and her nagging, so she persuades King to send craikey on a quest. She finds him in a loft in London where an Italian window dresser named Massimo learns his craft. Craike finds and rescues a dwarf with enough magic, including that of levitating, hiding, and making things disappear through the wonders. By persuading them to steal the diadem, the prince moves into an orphanage. As they grew accustomed to their new surroundings the two picked up a few tricks from each other and lived happily ever after. The book tells the story of how a certain lamen prince came to live in the kingdom with the help of an adept yet selfless maid and helped them out. It also teaches us about royalty life and how it should be honest, kind, and trustworthy.
