"Daphne's Tales" is a story about passion and betrayal, faith and sacrifice, as well as the collapse of an ancient empire in Israel and Egypt. In 965 BC, the son of King David became king of the united kingdom of Israel and Judah after his father's death and was entrusted with the construction of Jerusalem's Temple of Yahweh. He traveled to Egypt to negotiate with Pharaoh Psamthekn II about the gold required for the Temple and to improve relations between the two nations. He fell in love with Pharoah's beautiful daughter Nikiya and the two kings agreed to arranged marriage. Against their will, Nikiy went to Israel with her new husband, whom she loved, while her father continued to insist on returning to Egypt. Fourty years later, Solomon's kingdom was at the brink of collapse from arrogance, yielding and blinded by his wife's and a servant's plans to topple the unified kingdom. As faith in the king weakens and the moral standing of his people declines, enemies gather at the gates of Israel. The visit of a mysterious queen brings Solomon back to his former way of thinking just in time to save his soul, but it is too late to protect his kingdom.

The story suggests that loyalty once served a king can turn around against them, particularly when great power evolves into greed. It is suggested that even the best laid intentions can lead to tragic consequences and that the danger of factions within a society often escalates into full-scale civil war.
