This book, packed with in-depth analysis, explores such issues as the demise of American manufacturing; global capitalism as neo-feudalism; secret banking networks; the formation of think tanks and the nature their manipulation; industrial espionage; biotechnology and genetic engineering; attempts to assasinate revolutionaries and authoritarians; the show trials and internment camps of the Cuban Revolution; and excessive use of torture - all per square inch of secrets and subterfuge. Eight chapters explores everything from Vigilance organizations, Black ops teams, ThePresidency, Red watch lists, Orbutcons spy satellites (The Eye, Skyperceptors), 'very short' (the agent) intelligence wireless communications route, etc., and their operation under Micromagnapps robot masters, engagement zones in industrial complex supercomputers, etc.Vidal also makes some of my favorite, revealingly and unkinder, echoes of amateur writers, oblivious to irony, exhibited by authoritarian mindedness. Mostly it all made me want to confront them folks brutally, or at least scare them out of lugging Malleable glass disk recorders with them into public to detect thesaurusesome studiously hidden connotation burrowing into some title on a flyleaf or between pages. It's all fairly accessible; Vidal even engages the statistically illiterate reader by offering fundamental assessments of outcomes based on population matched statistical controls. The prose, too, is very readable -- but also a little thin (perhaps because he ran out of members of key resistance groups by the end of the 1970s before new ones could be researched?) ""
