Was It Right To Forgive?, by Amelia Barr, is a domestic romance, which is a genre of love story concerning two people – usually a married couple – facing problems in their relationship. The story takes place between two long-married neighbors: John, a career diplomat, and Chris, his psychiatrist wife. Their lives seemed perfect, both to them and everyone else they knew, until the minimum wage thief that crashed into John's car and then broke his ankle. Although he acted kindly toward the trespassing stranger (bearing in mind that John was already put off by this situation and the promise of lost business), it uncovered an ugly family secret both he and Chris had denied their existence at all costs. As a result of the accident, Chris gets kicked out and loses a year of her progress in therapy.
