The Lost Word (English Edition) (Arthur Conan Doyle).

Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Lost Word”.

When Professor Challenger and his party left England to explore an uncharted region of South America, they saw nothing but green mountains and savanna, strange ruins and terrors, all part of the narrative journey that promised a fantastic meeting with creatures that seemed to have vanished long ago from the Earth. That journey took them to a cavern with an underground lake and some stalactites. Here they found hidden chambers, cave paintings and a stone door that led to another world that was both new and breathtaking. They found themselves in a prehistoric time when dinosaurs and predatory animals, old and famous from popular mythology, roamed the valleys. Some of them, such as Carcharodons, abominable algae, and griffins were more dangerous and evolved than we imagined. Their courtship for a long time gave rise only in one person who liked each creature that lived in “the lost world”. The main leader, a researcher who was always eager to explore the remote corners of this planet, decided to return to civilization since he became convinced that the ancient world – does not exist and is only a fantasy, unknown to reality. However, he realized that he was wrong about this after a while: he caught a small baby brontosaurus and discovered that the inhabitants of the last non-human world so closely resemble his cousin, whom we soon find out about the fate – "the dinosaur" wandered on the plane alone, something terrible happened to his foot that made him tired enough to resist – the character got an infection, was hampered in motion and often accidentally injured. As a result, having traveled 200 miles distant from civilization, Professor Challenger
