Her brief engagement leads to a connection between the two, groundbreaking for their lawyers contractually bound lives, mired by secrets and exotic tie-ups. Bringing Some Balance
IHolbrook clearly understands the dilemmas and nuances associated with life as newlyweds, with their own quirks and moments of intimacy, arguing for emotional depth in their relationship conflicts. Mulvey (who fell in love with Yelizaveta) suggests it’s what makes the novel special. “I’ve read romance after romance where it seems like everybody is happy but where there’s that not too ingenuous tinge of realism and struggle – that’s when it hits me” she remarks. The book conjures up real emotional connections between the couple, deep conversations of both complements.Readers are also treated to relatable insights into the inner thoughts and feelings of chiseled bad boys, only able to gleaned from married women, such as Maria Tigani’s enthusiastic recommendation. They anticipate this novel only to find out there’s a bit more character than initially thought due to the endnotes. These offer a mini-psychological glean insight into Izzy and Ethan as they negotiate their new found reality through initiating conversations.
