If you don't know this book, then here's a description: «The Unexpected Guest» by Agatha Christie.

A young man sees a murder and is asked not to tell anybody about it. This is a full-length narrative which was adapted from Agatha Christie's play by Charles Osbourne.

One night in South Wales, a stranger leaves his car in a ditch and messes up because of dense fog. Then he arrives at a remote house. There, he sees a woman holding a gun whose target seemed to have been her wheelchair-using husband. Soon after, she confesses to having murdered him.

The guest decides to offer his services to the woman and gives her an idea what story they should concoct to cover the crime. Still, is it true that the neighbor did murder recently? Who should the guest possibly hide or denounce? The young son's father who had died in an car accident or the mother who was a complete hypochondriac and never missed an opportunity to shave her child's hair because of dandruff? His love interest or the grandmother who lived next door and fed the household with a wide range of dishes? Life was rather bizarre and full of intrigue in the house.

«The Unexpected Guest», as their critics call it, is one of Christie's finest plays, hailed as one more «Mousetrap» as it ran for six hundred performances in the Broadway for about two years in 1978 and was produced all over the globe during decades afterwards.
