When hometown boy Ben shoots off town ten years before, he leaves Mercy Zamora, long since consigned to crushingly romantic fates that marry no strings, no wedding bells, no babies. Simple sum.
OK. Let's get hard-boiled. "Do not welcome the former lover who has reappeared" written into Mirror Mirror of Mirrors by Karen Templeton. 16 beautiful pages are devoted to screwball hijinks and a few spare thoughts about friendship. Contented romance and casually appropriate novelty rule the day.
First, there's an immediate injection of rhythm as the protagonist Falconer (who'll learn his name – if you keep following) is faced with straight up love bites. Think Romeo without the passive aggressiveness. Damn good too, I might add.
With this swift pace set and love being put in the hands of a mischievous, witty Greek chorus, the characters (except opposed Falconer and his vanilla slice of friend) make their way through an assortment of faux pax & semi-delirious plot twists before opening their hearts a little wider and falling a lot harder. Really, the high points include the adventures taking place in my favourite surroundings: a muddy underpass outside the Royal Arcade.

Описание книги от Karen Templeton
When hometown boy Ben Vargas shot out of town ten years ago, he also left Mercy Zamora behind. And though she had led the chorus of no strings/no wedding bells/no babies, ten years can change a girl. If only it had changed her feelings for him… And as for Ben–he'd had his reasons for leaving, but Mercy had never been one of them. And so he was home–at least for now.And he should know better than to start something, once more, that he couldn't finish. Know better than to think that once he had her in his arms, he'd ever be able to let her go…
