Cassie's marriage to Van had finally collapsed when he blamed her for a violent altercation and pushed her to the edge. To recover Van's attentions for his ailing mother, Cassie comes back to town to Honesty carrying the secret from the night of the disturbance. Though everybody in town is going to know about her return, Cassie takes every precaution not to see Van as more than just her husband's ex-wife. Since the day they separated, they argued over everything and everyone. Even knowing her feelings for him may remain, Van has further caused her pain. Lacking the courage to make an attempt to relash on the relationship, Cassie tries hard to avoid the sight of him. As their paths continously cross, Buck the main character must show her that avoiding Van and recognizing the feelings only causes her more hurt than comfort. There Brax, does his best to bring them together lest anything bad happens to her father.
