The Declaration of the Independence of the United States of America - This is an official document by the American Government. The book is made up of the first paragraph of the Declaration. It is written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776. Though there are minor differences of the wording now and then, the core message remains the same. American people as a nation wants freedom, equality and democracy. They say why should they rely on the British Crown for their protection and pay taxes to it? It's time for an independent nation. Tributes, food and all other kinds of funding sources must be suspended. People's life, rights and liberties are holy writ. Slavery is unthinkable. No treaty, no marriage, none for time pass. Free association is the last "No" that people plan to give up. Of course every person is free to travel. Different religions can exist, until our own institutions are perfected, so we feel that the time is ripe for people to shut up on that front also.

Author Thomas Jefferson was a famous statesman and lawyer, being elected the third President of the USA in 1800, a short time before his death at the age of 63 years old. In his book, he emphasizes several important ideas:

1. He seems to be arguing that Britain wasn't fulfilling its duties as an ethical state, because its treatment of the American colonists amounted to slavery. If freedom is a sign of greatness, then should we not free ourselves from the need to submit to oppressive regimes that held us down? Surely, if you want to justify slavery, you must also adopt a position that supports other forms of coercion! After all, slavery is only one specific example of the exploitation of human beings by society. 2. The Declaration speaks of economic freedom in the sense that it asserts that people should be able to pursue their own ends that may benefit themselves and perhaps society as well. He points out that if the people become independent (as opposed to the Britain that hold them subjugated), it would revolutionize the nation's finances, since taxes owed to a sovereign who wields immense power diminishes when the people gain more autonomy. 3. Religion should also be allowed to proceed as natural as possible, with or without state interference—if that interference is forced upon you by a tyrannical regime, people ought not necessarily rise against their own nature! Furthermore, the concept of cultural sovereignty enunciated by the State of New Jersey and the Constitution of 1787 embodies the ideal that cultures and religions can coexist in peace and harmony. By taking this stance, Jefferson undermines the notion that religion exists to serve politics. 4. People are the ultimate and most self-determining bodies in society. There are many reasons mentioned for this philosophical approach. To begin with, the Principle of Toleration applied to church authority bears out all the arguments for freedom of religion.
