Although it seemed like one big disclaimer, the author makes very clear this was a marriage of convenience. Cathy included serious and valid commentary on marriage, family, happiness, romance and society, using an engaging style. Quite funny and often heart-warming, this has a lot to hold the attention of history enthusiasts and costume lovers. The events really follow a predictable but also entertaining path, gradually adding excitement and turning personal. Not just a book about a wedding, it is a true love story. This was an easy, fun read for an evening and it flung open countless doors to see Hollywood through her eyes.
