Surprises on the Blind Date
Dear Auntie,
There's nothing better than finding the romance of my dreams online and then wondering where to end this in real life. My date just fell off... shame. Oddly enough after much searching I have realised there is a considerable shortage of similar situations addressed in books or magazines. Surely this is an excellent story upon which to draw inspiration? After all it's needed. In my opinion many suffer from the inability to meet someone anywhere in their chosen region let alone their entire province. Two hundred kilometers or more from any pot luck and you are qualified to marry that first passing glance. It's all out there if you know how to find it unfortunately, it isn't as easy as just looking. But then life isn't supposed to be easy is it?
I'd love to head off but the cautionary tales of running into the bottle half a century and later rarely epitomise youthfulness. And besides being forced into an impossible dilemma by being told I would always regret rushing into things before arranging a properly formed Wikipedia screen cast of the developement of our relationship without having finished Anna Karenina just makes me cringe. I believe any sane person knows it's critical to ensure your internet lover has at least a decade of reading habits prior to making a rash decision in the real world. No one wants a cartoon written biography.
So, I'm in the pickle. I suppose I waited eagerly to finally have that courage in me – that gutsy little instinct women allowed me with all the time. Too late now. Rather than go and set this whole thing back seventy years spread through a bar or a Hendrix Saturday night or whatever Richard Attenborough Said I want some Auntie to back me up here. Just in case. Plus, if Auntie agrees that would just make the entire thing seem even more official. You know, those weird prudish things you hear about between sisters? Well that's okay for me. Not a single member of my family has referred to my ideas as anything but unorthodox. Maybe Auntie can stop me from making as big an idiot of myself as I am going to make. I really am most grateful. If only Forrest Gump was able to assist in these sort of situations maybe Prince Charming would too. Come to think of it maybe Auntie could try turning the tables with my experience and give me tips to increase my dating chances in a planet located halfway between Melbourne and Tuvalu.

Dear Ask Auntie,The loneliness of the Outback is driving me crazy. I'm two hundred kilometers from the nearest nightclub, and it's so hard to meet guys. The few dates I've had have been spectacularly forgettable, but now I've met a wonderfully warm, funny and clever man over the Internet and I'm in love. I want to dash off to the city to meet him, but all my life I've been accused of being too hasty and impulsive, so I'm seeking guidance. What do you advise?Marooned in MirrabrookAnnie McKinnon's agony aunt says, «Go for it!» Find out what happens when she does…
