If you loved Unleashing Hell and were dying to know what happens next, you'll want to grab it right away as this book gives us much more of what we wanted and still more besides. There are certain elements that will once again cause some of David dalglish's less savoury characters to cross our paths, along with some unlikely allies and the return of our heroine Fiona. Of course, serial romantic interest and demons simmer in there, too, while Tricia Streatfeild and her editor, Bonnie Lysaght, once again give their all, plying Barber with lots of ideas, every suggestion a gracious gift (don't worry he equally expects more waiting). Readers of Unleashing hell and other thrillers will be happy to spot Zendalor World references…but they needn't bother there's little crossover—a pleasant surprise for those who thought that book was too far out there even for this author.
Barber offers up cataclysmic events not caught on screen so far, as Fiona and Miles stumble into Mantica and its tumultuous, time-travel reliquary of power. It shakes the ground swirling insights, cultism, the pursuit of secrets buried beneath two civilizations—and reveals to us the most terrifying destructive force that could erupt from the depths of Bertram Worthington's mind. Hope that this time we're given an explanation for the extraordinary world of the Manticans. This time the abyss does in fact assist Fiona and also feeds on the disturbing clash between characters from our own world and those residing in this strange mystical realm. Writer Barbac gives venoms shards of our world echoing up through the magical fabric rendering Mantican society protective some and at root shadowy forces await the counterbalance that to extends their dark powers.
