This unabridged edition of Soldier Boy is an edited account of a six-week bicycle tour from Greece to Western Anatolia during the summer of 2001 in which Cassandra (Cassie) and her fellow entourage tackled 1,301 kilometers (810 miles) while completing 49 different cycling events, from a "cat-n-mouse" relay race to individual live dates with radio jocks, and from road distance riding events to swimming events. The tour featured over 30 cultural and artistic artist collectives who all rode as an integrated group, dubbed "We Are Weaving Women." Furthermore, it covered phases of history related to conflict, nature, meeting cultures and cultures' complexities, nature and its magic, various girls cycle journeys, traditional Anatolian cycling culture and views, and various diversity and integration issues. Soldier Boy joins a movement launched by the film documentaries The Turin Blue, Rallying Flag, Throwing Down the Baton, Dragon Lady and crews including Josie Stevenson, Cyril Ramaphosa, William Kennard and documentary pioneer Ian Morton (Mzzo) Patrick Dalton's Shadow Cycling exhibitions, Cassandra's conversations with Quentin Crisp and Cesar Chavez, Sheila Heath's transcultural transformation medical residency, movies like Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Across the Universe, Waking Life, The Doors, No Country for Old Men, Labyrinth, Billy Elliot, and Ben Kingsley's milieu in A Growing Pains, Camelbak Virgil Griffiths, Lincoln Short, Kate Dolivet, Michael Bowen and Catherine Stoehr's OMT bike movement, Gabriel Garcia Marquez' One Thousand Years of Solitude, excerpts from novels by Jeanette Winterson, Cormac McCarthy, Margaret Atwood, Arthur C.
