Sea of Sorrows is a poignant tale set in Thailand written by veteran author, Charley Brindley. Ultimately about the aftermath of war, this story traces the experiences of its protagonist, who, through a spellbinding narrative, has come to realize that sorrow may never truly leave his heart.

The event upon which the novel is based occurred during Brindley's own time on active military duty in Vietnam where he encountered and fell in love with a woman named Chayan. The soldier returned home one day to find a letter explaining that Chayan had perished in a typhoon while he fought in the war. Devastate, the young man found solace in his college studies and eventually formed a family of his own.

Years later, now a seasoned physician, he decides to take that long journey back east to retrace memories and seek closure over the life he left behind long ago. Once in Thailand, the protagonist runs into several challenges, including loss and heartbreak, all the while expressing himself through incomparable writing. Just as the story reaches it's point of no return the frailties of manhood are brought to light, leaving one to reflect on the meaning and purpose of both our real and fictional losses.
