"One-Eyed cat"
Ned Wallies, a 13-year-old boy of sixteen, lives in a big house near the village. Once his father, a military man, left for duties in another country and Ned was left under the care of his uncle, who hated kids. All people from neighborhood considers the boy an exceptional one. Living on top of the wood house, boy dreamed very often, which made his lonely life much more interesting.
Yet, during a vacation trip in town, Uncle finds Ned playing with a rifle about the graveyard. As a soldier himself he understands a danger it poses, but Ned simply runs away with the gun and paints the door of the church red. His brother Martin, who runs a summer camp nearby, had come on foot to prevent anything bad happening to the two-month-old baby called Tom. The child is a mistake by a married woman trying to reconcile after an affair, and was abandoned by the mother just to give birth to him 8 months ago. Martin insists on Ned raising the kid as his own brother after what happened on the night Tom was born and after Ned calls his young niece at the camp, Masha, to bring Tom to them. They also start taking care of a one-eyed cat they spot during a storm. After seeing the cat, they question if the child has been through a similar accident that resulted to such a frightful appearance. Ned becomes even more afraid when he gets an invitation from Catherine, father of Tom, to meet up to sign some documents involving Tom in it. Growing increasingly fearful of meeting Mr. Catherine in person, Ned tells Masha and Martin that he believes their understanding of something behind the scenes.
