Книга "Materialities of Care. Encountering Health and Illness Through Artefacts and Architecture" рассматривает роль материальной культуры в контексте здравоохранения и социального ухода, включая повседневные предметы, одежду, мебель и архитектуру.
This book addresses the role that material culture plays in health and social contexts, namely in encounters between patients and care providers, patients and their families as well as visitors and healthcare staff. Through examination of everyday objects (such as medical equipment), clothing, furniture, buildings and landscapes in chronic illness, palliative care and general/aged care contexts the volume aims to shed light on aspects of care previously neglected. The volume also explores how the different modes of ordering carecraft enable or preclude different treatment options, as well aspects of individual agency and patient-provider relationships that lie marked by the way care is structured materially and performed physically. It examines diverse care settings, ranging from hospitals, home and residential care facilities to museums and community hubs. Nettleton draws on research published in a wide selection of journals. Her co-authors, Clare Rogers, is the editor of this collection.
