This romantic thriller takes place on the fictional island of Lux — a magical island with women in towelling skimpy dresses.\nChapter headings turn it into an elaborate honeymoon story, or a parody of cancer fundraising television chat shows.\nBut it\'s actually a plot involving international spies and murders.\nIt explains everything — why the ex-husband got blackmailed and tried to behead his wife, and why he made his dad\'s death look like suicide.\nFor someone who seems passionate about life and decry white supremacy, Edith Lavell just came up with an unpleasant surprise.
Book Review; Lavell Edith Island Adventure
Linda Carlton Island Adventure is a rather cute book.
The protagonist of this book is named Linda and she is an eight-year-old girl on her summer vacation from Heavenald Primary School. Linda's perfect five-room house is located on a remote island named Green Acres. At first it looks like her summer is going to consist of scanning her tinderbooks or watching Lady Janice (educational TV and going swimming. However, when a new girl arrives at her door (named Rosie), Linda finds herself involved in a series of surprising adventures.
Rosie is an orphan from Melbourne who is fleeing from a dreadful past. Much of Island Adventure focuses on the children's relationship as their bond develops while they endure a variety of unplanned adventures on the island. The selfless nature of Linda is recognized fairly early on and Rosie recognises and appreciates this quality within her new companion. From the Volunteers Anonymous playdates in the local community hall to attempts at bradderball, a Hawaiian beach volleyball variant, the girls experience life lessons along the way in what seem to be lighthearted, but implyt more serious, ways.
Lavell Edith perfectly captures the childlike innocence of Linda and her interactions with her family, friends, and imaginary friends. Herbert, her guardian lion, provides comic relief and acts as a constant mentor for Linda and Rosie. Violet, Linda's shy brother Neil, and Aunt Clara also play an indispensable role in the narrative.
There are some parallels between Linda Carlton and American children of a similar age: Myrtle in Peace Valley by Jeanne Kirkpatrick comes to mind - a Southern U. S. barnyard adventure reminiscent of Ellen McGann in The Mystery At Pine Lake, Mt. Hermon Dills at Sea Horse Pond, etc. Lavell also has strong ties to a specific childhood memory - Her very first smell of jasmine, as described in "A Day My Grandmother Gave Us," offers evidence of her acute sense of memory. Linda Carlton Seasonal Book Box Set, which includes Island Adventure and several other Linda Carlton books, is just over $12 dollars, at most. For this price, readers can expect a quality production featuring bright, spotless illustrations that utilize many bright and vibrant colors, especially green, blue, and pink. This setting helps create a sense of peacefulness that naturally brings out a nostalgic feeling.
All in all, Island Adventure by Lavell Edith is a delightful and entertaining book for anyone of all ages - especially children and young adults. The book's simple yet engaging storyline leaves you wanting more.
