This dictionary is the first comprehensive modern reference work describing the life and activity of pioneers – a group of Russian-speaking researchers occupying the field of historical memory studies. It includes information about people who for many years were working in the memory of Russian refugees and emigrants living outside Russia in foreign countries. The main focus is on the 20th century, with emphasis on the historical process of formation of the Russian diasporic community.
The dictionary reflects the prerequisites of the development of this field of scientific research – its social demand, academic schools, methodology. Special attention is paid to the biography of famous Soviet and Russian historians and philologists in their scientific activity describing numerous real and fictional scenes of the current structure of such disciplines as history, philology and cultural studies.
