It all started when Betsy's sister decided that she absolutely needed a niece for Christmas and hinted at how much longer they should try before she had another grandchild. Betsy had thought about becoming a Mom for years but always put it off because she was busy with her career. She realised she was getting older and sooner or later she would give in and she wanted to have something that she at least would have finite time for.
Betsy applied to a local charity for single fathers that was sponsoring young siblings, looked online for adoptive parents that were longing for a daughter, even wrote to an organic pregnancy outreach group in Hawaii and for two weeks had a regular ad running in the Yellow Pages. Every time she ran out of ideas her Mother would phone her and request she donate a bowl of cookies once more. It got so tiresome after a while that these calls and visits drove her half mad.
But Betsy did n't have any luck and Benson decided to give up and learn to live with what she already had in Pawula - her loyal dog. Then suddenly one day she got an email from a private investigator - Steve. Steve had been hired by her sister to find a niece.
