This book offers a comprehensive review of the interrelationship between globalisation studies and literary criticism, as well as the impact that both subject areas have on one another. The authors examine how globalisation is represented in literary works and analyse its effect on the evolution and consumption of literature under increasingly globalised conditions. They argue that literacy has indeed interpreted globalisation processes in its works, but that further efforts are needed to establish a better connection between these two areas of academic enquiry. They present case studies illustrating how articulations between opposition against globalisation in literary work and world cities, how postmodern and post-colonial theory contends for globalisation, and how processes of literary transfer become integral to more globalised industries. The book aims at undergraduate students, scholars, practitioners, and anyone else who is interested in these matters and can provide useful information for future research studies.
This book provides an up-to-date review of the relationships between studies of globalisation and literature as well as studies of literature, and their effect on each other, including engagement with thematic ways in which globalisation processes are addressed in literary work, examination of the connection between globalisation theories and literary theories, and discussion of how to inquiry into the effects produced by processes of globalisation on the making and receiving of literary texts whilst also Suman Gupta asserts that although literature has responded to globalisation by being relevant, a lack of alignment between studies in globalisation and studies of literature has occurred. Some examples demonstrating how this gap is handled and could be furthered are provided, jointly considering types such as the way anti-globalisation protests and metropolitan centres figure in literary compositions, the multitude ways theories of post-modernism and colonialism, well-known in studies of literature yet diverging from studies of globalisations and converging together, or the manner communication industries related to the trafficking of literature become globalised.

This book presents a state-of-the-art overview of the relationship between globalization studies and literature and literary studies, and the bearing that they have on each other. It engages with the manner in which globalization is thematized in literary works, examines the relationship between globalization theory and literary theory, and discusses the impact of globalization processes on the production and reception of literary texts. Suman Gupta argues that, while literature has registered globalization processes in relevant ways, there has been a missed articulation between globalization studies and literary studies. Examples are given of some of the ways in which this slippage is now being addressed and may be taken forward, taking up such themes as the manner in which anti-globalization protests and world cities have figured in literary works; the ways in which theories of postmodernism and postcolonialism, familiar in literary studies, have diverged from and converged with globalization studies; and how industries to do with the circulation of literature are becoming globalized. This book is intended for university-level students and teachers, researchers, and other informed readers with an interest in the above issues, and serves as both a survey of the field and an intervention within it.
