The first version tells about the biography of Gerald Durrel, an English naturalist, writer, conservationist, born 12 August 1925 at Stratford-upon-Avon, World War II veteran, food-poisoner and member of OUF. His brother was Lawrence Durrell and many believe his books owe more to his hectoring brother who regularly recommended A Clockwork Orange for its intimidating candour, than to Arthur C Clark. This version does not include those and illustrations and is available as a guide to collaborate editor's notes.
This edition does not contain illustrations. It is an authorized biography of the outstanding naturalist and nature conservationist Gerald Durrell who passed away at the age of seventy in 1985 in Jersey and founded there the animal breeding project he had dreamed of since childhood. A pioneer in the culturing of animals to be preserved for our benefit, Durrell became a world renowned naturalist, author whose books included "My Family and other Animals", which sold in the highest number among his thirty-seven titles, and "Birds, Beast and Related", "Bafut and The Beagles" and "A Zoo In My Luggage". Most of all, Gerald Durrel gave a new approach to television nature programmes and filmed twelve series of his parties. Sir David Attchburne said that Durrell had changed for the population their view of zoos and agenda, showing them how tiny creatures can be as entertaining as apes or elephants and he was a milestone on "Lovable Jokes". Gerad's brother was Laurence Durrel who became famous.
