Книга "From Depositional Systems to Sedimentary Successions on the Norwegian Continental Margin" посвящена изучению структуры, седиментологии и стратиграфии гидроносных единиц и их источников на Норвежском континентальном шельфе (НКШ).
The Norwegian Continental Shelf, the focus of this Monograph, is a productive hydrocarbon province where both exploration and oil and gas production continue to be active to date with a bright future ahead. Key to success in the present and future is synchronising technological breakthroughs with our profounded understanding of local geological settings. This book captures the collective endeavours of all industry pros and their research collaborators undertaking intense studies of key areas on the NCS: structural configurations, deposition dynamics, facies retention, hydrocarbon-bearing units, along with propcers and seals. The articles cover numerous layers of sedimentary environments, from prolific fan complexes to remote deepwater sources, subjected to diverse climatic regimes – from extreme arid environments to more temperate conditions on top of glaciers – and situated in various tectonic precincts. The Monograph pays special attention towards integrating both analogue and theoretical models with crucial trends gained through increasingly comprehensive subterranean databases.

Описание книги от Группа авторов
The Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), focus of this special publication, is a prolific hydrocarbon region and both exploration and production activity remains high to this day with a positive production outlook. A key element today and in the future is to couple technological developments to improving our understanding of specific geological situations. The theme of the publication reflects the immense efforts made by all industry operators and their academic partners on the NCS to understand in detail the structural setting, sedimentology and stratigraphy of the hydrocarbon bearing units and their source and seal. The papers cover a wide spectrum of depositional environments ranging from alluvial fans to deepwater fans, in almost every climate type from arid through humid to glacial, and in a variety of tectonic settings. Special attention is given to the integration of both analogue studies and process-based models with the insights gained from extensive subsurface datasets.
